Flowers of the Holy Land, Jerusalem ca. 1900 in olive tree boards

Jerusalem: Samuel E. Tiktin (?), Ca. 1900. Hardcover. 6.75 x 4.25 inches, bound in leather backed beveled olive tree boards with decorative inlay on front board, very good, with 12 leaves with original samples affixed artistically, identifying captions on each leaf in a variety of languages. With ink stamp of Samuel E. Tiktin, Jerusalem on verso of front flyleaf. At first we thought this was an ownership stamp, since Tiktin, Yiddish and Hebrew writer born in Jerusalem in the 1870s (immigrated to the US in 1912), did not seem the type to publish such a book. He contributed to *Ha-aretz* (Jerusalem), *Hatsefira* (Warsaw), *Hameylitz* (Odessa), *Hamagid* (Elk, Poland), *Di Warhayt* (N.Y.), *Machzike Hadas* (Krakow), *Hashkafa* (Jerusalem), was Editor of *Unzer bruder* (Jerusalem, 1911-1912) and was active in the Mizrachi movement. But we noticed at least one other copy of this book for sale online (for $1500) with the same stamp, so now we think he may have been the publisher. Very good. Item #H38465
