No Little Enemy (mystery) inscribed by Perry to William Targ & his wife

Garden City: Doubleday, Doran for the Crime Club, 1944. First Printing. Hardcover. 12mo, cloth in dust jacket, very good, light edgewear to jacket. "For Anne and Bill Targ -- the biggest mystery being why Bill isn't here signing his. It's a man's world! As Dorothy Hughes says 'Love' Eleanor Bayer, 4/15/44." Eleanor Perry (nee Rosenfeld) wrote a series of suspense novels with her first husband, Leo Bayer, before becoming a well known Hollywood screen writer, as well as a feminist activist. The inscription to Targ, a well known publisher, editor and author, is probably a reference to Targ's own mystery, "The Case of Mr. Cassidy" (1944) which was about the murder of a wealthy Chicago book collector. Very good / very good. Item #H39803
