First French language edition, translated by Andre Mathieu, afterword by Christiane Rochefort, bookplate of William Targ but probably owned by his wife, Roslyn Targ (who did not seem to have a bookplate of her own); Targ was a top-tier literary agent whose clients included Himes, Samuel Beckett, Italo Calvino and Henry Roth -- her husband was a publisher, author, editor and bibliophile. Good with some stains to front cover, lesser so to rear cover, pages uncut and unopened. Good. Item #H40533
