Managua, Nicaragua: Editorial Vanguardia, 1997. First Printing. Wraps. Trade softcover, very good. Inscribed by author to Latin American scholar Keith McDuffie. 272 pp. Edition of 1500 copies. This work follows the story of a poet who is asked to document the events during a military operation ordered by the Sandinista government to forcibly evacuate the Miskito indigenous people as a form of defense against the counterrevolution, an event that leads to systematic violations of the rights of these communities. The academic David Rocha has identified in particular in the novel a conscious attempt to give importance to female leaders, as well as homoerotic and parodic elements of the image of masculinity present in the times of the Sandinista Revolution. Very good. Item #H41300
