Translation of 'The First Legion' by Emmet Lavery, in three actes, quarto, wraps, 32 pp, small stain to rear cover. Inscribed lovingly to his sister Jeanne Silvain and her husband Edmond Roze with a long note. Jean and Jeanne were the children of Louise and Eugene Silvain of the Comedie Francaise; Jean wrote a number of plays and novels, Jeanne was an actress and her husband Edmond Roze was a well known director, stage manager and author. The play is set in a Jesuit novitiate and examines questions of faith in the priesthood. A film of it was directed by Douglas Sirk. Very Good. Item #H4570
