God Never Forgets - typed story about a young man who rescues a little girl from starvation

St. George, Utah: The Author, ND, ca. 1930s. Paperback. 5 1/2 pp. typed story, probably a submission to an evangelical journal (there is no evidence it was ever published) about a young collegian who decides to visit his uncle's family for Christmas in a small New England town. When he arrives by train, no one is there to pick him up, so he decides to walk the half mile to his uncle's place near the mill the uncle owns. He mistakes a run-down house for his uncle's and upon approaching is beckoned inside by a starving girl, who has mistaken him for Santa Claus. Turns out the girl's father had been killed at an accident at the mill, but the uncle had refused to give the widow any compensation; he hired her and then quickly fired her for being too slow. They had been using the fence slats to build a fire, and the uncle had threatened to turn them out of the house if they used any more. The young man gives the girl a doll intended for one of his cousins and at the end of the story sets off to the grocery store to get them some food. Because, God Never Forgets If We But Ask Him in the Right Spirit. Probably written by John Ellis Woodbury (1906-1977), a lifelong resident of St. George, Utah. Good. Item #H4772
