Stated First American edition, small 8vo, old calf, some wear, spine label present but lettering dull, neat restoration to outer joints, contents good to very good, some foxing and faint coffee colored stains, early signatures of a William Nammatt and a Hannah P. Mitchea (put a 'question mark' next to both names as to correct spelling). (9) 10-132 pp, complete. Dedicated to Mary Wollstonecraft and sonnet to her, and with the first poem entitled 'The Triumph of Woman.' Evans 36345; Sabin 88566. Although only 25 when this volume was published, Southey was already an established poet, closely connected with Samuel Coleridge (he married a Coleridge and supported both his own family and three of Samuel Coleridge's abandoned children on his poet's tiny income in the late 1790s).
