Hints on Hats, Adapted to the Heads of People

London: John Camden Hotten, 1865. First printing. Hardcover. 8vo, early 20th century half calf and cloth boards, with original yellow pictorial wraps bound in. Good to very good, some rubbing and wear to binding, contents very good, possibly lacking half title or first blank. 102 pp, illustrated, plust 31 pp of ads for firms appointed to supply the royals with hats. Melton was hatter to the Prince of Wales. The book, which we thought was one of those Cruikshank/Thackeray inspired satires, really is about hats and fashions. Good. Item #H7295
