Arthur L. Draper was director of the Hayden Planetarium in NYC, then director of Buhl Planetarium in Pittsburgh from 1940 to 1967. This is a folder of papers from Draper's collection, including typescripts with multiple handwritten corrections, and typed accounts by other astronomers, possibly for inclusion in his popular "The Story of Astronomy" (Dial Press, 1939). Includes: "Sky-Scout Guide" Vol. 1, no. 5 Feb. 1937 (2 pp. newsletter from Hayden Planetarium), "Light -- The Interstellar Messenger" (5 typed pages, 3 pencilled pages of notes); "The Work of the Allegheny Observatory" (1 page); "The Thaw 30-inch Telescope" (1 page); "The Work of an Astronomer" (6 typed pages); "An Evening's Journey Among the Stars" (10 typed pages); "The Story of Telescopes" (typed copy of a radio talk from 1935, 6 pp.), typed excerpts from works by H. H. Nininger and Andrew B. Hecht (the Hecht essay, The Sky Above Me, is 21 pp, typed). Some are stamped "Property of Adam L. Ott" -- he was an amateur astronomer in Pittsburgh as well as book collector; we acquired these from his estate probably thirty years ago, and they just came to light in a box of papers in our warehouse. Very Good. Item #H7740
