Manuscript copy of the music and lyrics for "Legende de Mermoz" dedicated to Edmond Roze and his wife
No date, probably 1937, as that was when this was also published. Quarto, mauve wraps inscribed and titled calligraphically, with music sheets inside, bound with a festive red white and blue ribbon, 5 pp. of music with the lyrics and refrain carefully penned. Possibly the work of a copyist. A song dedicated to the memory of the French aviator Jean Mermoz (d. December, 1936), a heroic personality and major influence on St.-Exupery, still regarded with admiration in France. Theatrical memorializations of his life took place throughout 1937 in France, and Edmond Roze, a director, actor and theatrical impresario, no doubt played a role in one of these productions.
