Hardcover. Not sure what company had this copy-book of bills of lading, etc., marked Lumber and Coal May 1901 - [May 1903] on the cover, the book having 500 sheets of very thin blotting paper, used as a copy book for details on shipment of coal and lumber much to other Pennsylvania companies, including Harbison Walker in Pittsburgh (lots of lumber: the company was in the process of a major expansion around the turn of the century), but with many in the Altoona area, probably indicating that this was a Blair County company near the railroads (Altoona was then a major nexus of rail lines). Some readable, some a little blotchy: the technique of using blotting paper to make copies of bills involved dampening the sheet to take the ink better, but overdampening would cause bleeding and feathering. Such is the case here. Of the 500 sheets of blotting paper, probably 300-400 have been used. We wish the purchaser good luck in sorting out where this came from and what company had it: it's a mystery to us. Very Good. Item #H8229
