Boston: Andrews and Blake, 1807. First American edition. 3 volumes, original flame calf boards, recent calf spines, gilt ruled, dark red morocco gilt spine labels, contents VG, age toning and foxing. With ownership signature and information in each volume indication the set's purchase from a John Francis and sold to a Thomas Hamilton in March of 1825. We cannot identify this particular Hamilton (probably NOT the author of 'Men and Manners in America' of 1833, as we believe that Hamilton was in Italy in 1825). First American printing of what is generally considered one of the greatest biographies ever published. Very Good. Item #H9590
