Shippensburg, PA (Philadelphia): Printed for John M'Carrell by William M'Culloch of Philadelphia. 8vo (8 x 4 inches approx.), later plain wraps, fair copy with chipping and loss to fore-edges of first five leaves, resulting in the loss of some letters and words to table of contents pages, the music pages complete and intact, with some light soil, old light tide-lines from damp staining to pages, doodle on last page, last blank with some notes from previous owner of 1840, Laughlintown, PA, some curling to page corners. RARE, only the AAS copy located by OCLC, has not appeared at auction in recent memory (rarebookhub). No. 164 of American Sacred Music Imprints (Britton & Lowens). Extremely scarce early American plain song book. NOT shape note. Fair. Item #H9954
