Framed and under glass, not examined outside the frame. Visible image measures 10.5 x 8.5 inches (26.5 x 21.5 cm). Notes on the back of the frame indicate it was painted by the governess for the Dysart children, Miss James and that it shows the lakeside acreage associated with Limefield on the north coast of Lough Foyle in far NW Ireland, identifying the children as Thomasina and Emily. According to the Irish national register, Col. Dysart took possession of Limefield in 1862; his daughter Thomasina (1850-1876) would thus have been twelve at the time. A handsome, if naive, ink & watercolor with ships of the Royal Navy also depicted. The notes on the back also detail the lineage of how this came to be in possession of the author of the notes. Provenance: collection of Rolf and Magda Loeber. Very Good. Item #ML12874

Price: $450.00
