Carbondale: Southern Illinois University Press, 1973-1993. First Edition. Hardcover. 16 volumes, complete from Abaco to Zwingman. Each volume tall 8vo, 10 x 7.25 inches, all bound in cloth, the first 8 volumes in dust jackets. Overall condition is good: there is shelfwear to jackets and most of them have heavy taping to their versos, some spines are rubbed, volumes 9 & 10 with spines so hard to read that previous owner has taped handwritten labels. Namestamps on fore-edges of text blocks and on pastedowns of Robert D. Hume, a Penn State professor of 17th-18th century drama, literature, music and culture who published widely in those areas, with occasional pen and pencil notes and marginalia throughout -- lightly so, with only a handful of instances in any given volume. But clearly a well loved and well used set that must have been of great help in Hume's researches. At the time of this listing ours is the only complete set for sale on the internet.
