Publisher's blue cloth, good minus, some wear and soil to binding, waterstaining to lower area, some darkening and stains to rear cover, contents tanned, on pulpy paper, text has faint signs of old dampstains and light waviness, a few ink stamps from an old Polish social club in Newcastle PA. Czartowska Skala is a mountain in Poland; the subtitle translates as "devilish larvae and omens: a magical story about a ghost knight, a drowned water witch, and a Padua student." The author, who used the pseudonym Jan Lada was a Polish prelate and novelist, conservative in his ideas of literature, but in 1951 all his books were banned in Poland. This novel obviously has some fantasy elements to it. Originally published in Poland in 1913, rare in any edition. Good. Item #h43086
