Pittsburgh and elsewhere: 1860s-1910s. Hardcover. 8.5 x 6.5 inches, photo album in poor condition with rear cover lacking, no spine, front cover present but detached. Photos mainly very good. With approximately 30 CDV sized photos and 10 cabinet photos. Some photos are identified. Probably owned by Martha T. Noble (1814-1898, Pittsburgh). The first cabinet photo is of one of her brothers. Also identified is James Isaac Buchanan (1853-1931, Pittsburgh financier and author). Identified CDVs include M. N. Aiken as a young child, Martha T. Noble herself, S. Aiken (1869), Ada Barton, A. Aiken, Tillie Lang, and a lovely portrait of "Aggie," a cabinet photo of a young woman with open book, from a studio in Iroquois, South Dakota. Many of the CDVS are next to impossible to remove from their slots, so there might be others that are identifiable, but we don't have either the fingernails or patience. Some of studios are in Wheeling, Greensburg and Bradford, but most are Pittsburgh or Allegheny and include some by Dabbs, the most well known of the Pittsburgh portrait photography studios in mid-late 19th century Pittsburgh. Poor. Item #h43990
