Ayanishiki, Vol. I (1916) folio color prints of textile designs

Kyoto: Nishijin Textile Museum, 1916. First Edition. Hardcover. Vol. I of what would be a ten-volume set ultimately. Folio, 17.5 x 12 inches, original decorated cloth binding in remains of original cloth slipcase. Book is very good with light ex-library marks from Carnegie Mellon University, with their official deaccession stamp, and small ink stamps to perhaps five of the plates, and there is mild bumping to upper outer corner of pages. Many of the plates are in color. We are unsure if they are woodcuts, colored stencil prints (like pochoir) or chromoxylographs, but they are beautifully printed and colored; besides the color plates there are also striking b/w photo plates.
