Quarto, 15 x 11 inches, bound in contemporary full dark green morocco with elaborate gilt decorations featuring crossed broadswords over round shields, floral & thistle cornerpieces and a central elaborate gilt arms of Scotland. Fair copy with cracking, loosening and wear along joints, rubbing and wear along edges of boards, corner wear, rubbing and scuffing. We've made no attempt to do any repairs. With chromolithograph title page as well as letterpress one, and 36 colored lithograph plates (the 2-volume set has a total of 72 such plates); the plates are in generally good to very good condition, the first several showing a faint dampstain tide-mark to upper edge, most showing light to moderate foxing, a few with short edge-tears, and others with light loss to corners. Generally the plates are very nice, colors vivid, the foxing unobtrusive. Nice sets have sold at auction for well over 4,000 GBP. Fair. Item #h45932
