Original Charles "Teenie" Harris Photograph of the Hill District , Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh: ca. 1935. ca. 1935 silver gelatin photograph print of two streetcar lines, likely in the Hill District of Pittsburgh. Image measures 11 x 14 inches, housed in archival museum-quality matting, 16 x 19.5 inches. SIGNED by Harris in the lower right corner. A good photograph with light rippling, spotting, and an area of discoloration to the lower edge. Light discoloration to the verso of the photograph where it was removed from a foamcore mounting. Still a very nice image. Likely a reprint from the 1960s, with an original signature. Charles "Teenie" Harris (1908–1998) photographed Pittsburgh's African American community from c. 1935 to c. 1975. His archive of nearly 80,000 images is one of the most detailed and intimate records of the black urban experience known today. Very Good. Item #z05286
