Harte became friendly with Black when he became American consul at Glasgow, Black's place of birth, though Harte was released from his duties in 1885 after unfavorable press and poor sentiments from the American public. Very good some rubbing wear to edges, small crack to the black spine label. Bookplate of noted Scottish scholar George Henderson on the front pastedown; contents clean and unmarked. Very Good.
