Apokalypse Interrogativ: Acht Holzschnitte von Pitt Cuerlis mit Texten von Ernst F. Wiedemann

1969. First edition. Hardcover. Limited edition of 243, each plate numbered and signed in pencil by the artist. Elephant folio. [1],8 p. plus eight loose woodcut prints (each print approximately 25 x 20 inches, image sizes vary; main text is printed on half sheets, interleaved with the full-sheet prints). Original black cloth-backed silver paper over boards, printed in black, with internal flap closure and external cloth strap. Boards rubbed and scuffed. Like most known examples of this work, a portion of the portfolio has been affected by damp, in this instance causing stains in the right and upper flaps and faint discoloration and warping in the upper part of the blank front endpaper and titlepage. The prints, themselves, are almost entirely unaffected and eminently frameable. Overall, a very good set. Portfolio of figural woodcuts by Pitt Cuerlis (German, b. 1919), with accompanying poetic text by Ernst F. Wiedemann. A dark and powerful production. Very Good. Item #z07383-f

in addition to the two listed (z07382-f and z07383-f), there are four sets in storage in varying states of disrepair.
