A magnificent production detailing and illustrating the Rothschild family-funded design of the neo-Gothic Castle de Haar. The ruined medieval castle on whose site the present castle was built was the property of the Belgian Haar family from 1391 to 1440, when it passed to the van Zuylen family. In 1887, the modern heir to the castle, Etienne van Zuylen van Nijevelt, married Hélène de Rothschild, whose family helped fund the redesign and rebuilding of the castle with architect Pierre Cuypers, who edited the present volume two years before the project's final completion in 1912. Good. Item #z07387-f
